- Practice in which companies use to lure unsuspecting potential employees with a fabulous position and after meeting them in an interview tell them they want the candidate for a completely different position.
Sentence:
Mary: “I was so excited about the most amazing position that I went in to interview for, and after the interview, they told me they were actually hiring for a report analyst position.”
Dave: “aaaaah, they pulled the bait and switch on you!”

Yea, I was soooooooo pumped up! I went into an interview for Position A, and I was so excited about it! I left with a really good feeling from them so I was feeling confident about it until the next day when I received a phone call from HR. They really loved me, but thought I would be a better fit with Position B which was a report monkey position. Hmmm… thanks…. but I think I’m going to pass
